President
Christine Thomas
The Honors Council President is in charge of leading the weekly Honors Council meetings. The President is also in charge of planning and executing Freshman Orientation, as well as the annual Honors Council Retreat. The President coordinates the "Leave of Absence" process, and works with the Honors Director and Assistant Director of the University Honors Program to coordinate various functions. The President oversees the Election process, and ensures that events planned by Committee Chairs are executed efficiently.
Recruiter
Melody Tarro
The Honors Council Recruiter assists the President with the planning and execution of both Freshman Orientation and Honors Council Retreat. The Recruiter heads the recruitment process for the University Honors Program, calling new Honors students to welcome them to the program, and organizing the Honors information session at Open House events. The Recruiter is at the head of the Honors Mentoring Program, which assigns Honors mentors to newly-admitted Honors students. Should the President need to leave Honors Council, the Recruiter takes over as President.
Executive Coordinator
Lindsey Russ
The Honors Council Executive Coordinator is responsible for acting as a liaison between Honors Council and other campus organizations, promoting Honors events to the campus, and campus events to the University Honors Program. The Executive Coordinator is also in charge of ordering Alumni gifts, Faculty Appreciation gifts, and gifts for upcoming graduates. The Executive Coordinator reserves facilities for Honors Council meetings, and for designated program events. The Executive Coordinator is also in charge of planning and executing the Honors Symposium.
Bookkeeper
Charity Vander Wall
The Honors Council Bookkeeper is in charge of taking minutes at weekly Honors Council meetings, as well as for keeping track of member attendance at these meetings. The Bookkeeper prints out and provides agendas for these meetings, as well. The Bookkeeper is responsible for the creation of the yearly-made Honors Council Scrapbook. The financial obligations of the Bookkeeper include balancing the Honors Council checkbook, making allowances for the budget, and announcing financial updates at Council meetings monthly.
Fundraising Chair
Deborah Barkley
The Honors Council Fundraising Committee Chair is in charge of developing and organizing fundraising events in order to raise funds for Honors Council expenses. The Fundraising Chair has a vital position, because if Honors Council does not raise money for itself, it will cease to hold events at all! These events also serve to unite Honors students in the common goal of the success of Honors Council. Lately, the Fundraising Chair has been working with the Pensacola Civic Center to raise money, and has also planned bake sales and an Honors Date Auction.
Service Chair
Chelsea Pitvorec
The Honors Council Service Committee Chair is in charge of organizing events for the University Honors Program which will allow students to earn community service hours, and to simply help the campus and the community. The Service Chair should provide many opportunities for such events, as Honors students are required to complete a total of forty service hours in order to graduate from the Honors Program. The Service Chair is particularly in charge of planning Make a Difference Day, and helping to find a Team Captain for the Honors Relay for Life team.
Social Chair
Ashley Armbruster
The Honors Council Social Commitee Chair is in charge of planning and executing social events for members of the Honors Council and the University Honors Program. These events serve to promote bonding and friendship among Council members, as well as to bring together members of the Program as a whole. In particular, the Social Chair is in charge of organizing the annual Honors Formal, the Halloween Party, the Great Books Study Session, and Ladies & Gents Day. The Social Chair also organizes various pot lucks and activities for Council meetings.
