Honors would like to congratulate Matthew Kruse on his new position with the Department of Justice! Matt interned with them as an undergraduate at UWF and said at the time that he was "starting out with his dream job..."
While Matt was in the University Honors Program, he served on the Honors Council from 2002 until 2006 as a member of the fundraising and social committees. His impressive academic resume also includes positions in the Student Government Association, the Relay for Life Committee, Sigma Alpha Epsilon, and as an Orientation Leader. The title of his Honors thesis was "Public Perception of Police: The Impact of Education."
Congratulations, Matt!

In Fall 2009, Honors will be celebrating its 20th Anniversary, and you will be invited to join in the festivities! Currently, all special events are still in their planning stages, but we hope to make this year an experience that Honors alumni, faculty, staff, and current students will enjoy. If you have any questions about how you can be a part of this historic year in Honors history, please contact Jennifer Phillips, and watch this space as more information about our 20th Anniversary will be made public as it becomes available.
As alumni, your participation in the University Honors Progam will become more and more critical as Honors evolves. The program enjoys your support - you're the ones who provide our current students with boundless opportunities! Here are the ways in which you might become reinvolved with the University Honors Program:
You can...
assist in the recruitment of new students by submitting a testimonial of your time in the University Honors Program or by helping us reach out to potential Honors students.
help to mentor our current students by becoming a part of our Mentor Program or by volunteering at Honors service events.
give a financial gift to the program to help us provide scholarships for students in need and travel opportunities for students attending conference presentations, international seminars, and thesis research trips.
be a speaker at one of our many Honors events including the Honors Induction, the Honors Orientation, and the Honors Banquet.
As always, if you have any questions, or need any assistance reconnecting with the University, please call the office or stop by Pace Hall any time. We are proud of everything you have accomplished and hope to see you soon.
