We're Looking for a Few Good People

Our Mission
To serve our eligible military veterans by facilitating the path to a Bachelor's degree or Master's degree at the University of West Florida. Certification is also offered to Veterans Service Officers.

Who are we?
We are a consortium from the Florida panhandle which includes Workforce Escarosa, Inc., Workforce Development Board of Okaloosa and Walton counties, and the University of West Florida. Hometown Heroes and the Veterans Service Officer Certificate Program are funded through a Congressionally-directed grant from the U.S. Department of Education. This program is also sponsored by the University of West Florida.

Since our country’s founding, some 48 million men and women have served in the United States military. Roughly half of them are alive today. Not every veteran has known the full wrath of battle, but every veteran has contributed to this nation and to the advance of human freedom. This nation owes each its permanent gratitude.

-Florida Congressman Jeff Miller

EFFECTIVE JUNE 3, 2011, HOMETOWN HEROES IS NO LONGER ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR SCHOLARSHIPS FOR
DEGREE PROGRAMS.

HOWEVER, THE VETERANS SERVICE CERTIFICATE PROGRAM IS STILL ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS.
