Movement Academy
Welcome to the University of West Florida’s Movement Academy. We are a physical education program serving students in the Pensacola area. Typically, our student body consists of students who are home-schooled and preschool-aged children.
Our mission is to provide a quality physical education opportunity for all of our students that offers a unique variety of experiences and opportunities while providing invaluable teaching experience for physical education students at the University of West Florida.
Program Overview
The UWF Movement Academy is based in the HLS Facility, building 72, on the University of West Florida campus (campus map). Class is scheduled for every Tuesday and Thursday from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. We do ask that students arrive a few minutes before class is scheduled to begin to allow for check-in procedures. The Academy is staffed by UWF students who are seeking undergraduate and graduate degrees in physical education as well as University of West Florida faculty and staff.
The Academy is fortunate to have access to many of the resources present on the UWF campus. Some of these include an indoor turf gym, indoor and outdoor handball courts, a sand volleyball court, a spacious intramural field with lights, an indoor rock wall, and water access to Escambia Bay. This collection of resources allows the UWF Movement Academy to offer activities that might not be available elsewhere!
Registration
To register for the UWF Movement Academy, please join us on any of our regularly scheduled days of class. Come into the lobby of the HLS Facility. Building 72, on the UWF campus and speak with our staff members stationed at our check-in table. We do have an initial registration fee of $40.00 for the first student and $15.00 for each additional student from the immediate family. Then for each month after, the fee is $30.00 for the first student and $5.00 for each additional student from the immediate family.
If your schedule does not permit you to make it for both days of class, we do offer a half-time rate that allows you to choose which day of the week you attend. Your first month’s fee will be $25.00 for the first student and $13.00 for each additional student from the immediate family. Then, each month’s fees will be $15.00 for the first student and $3.00 for each additional student from the immediate family.
