   Wellness Program

Life-time Activity courses are a combination of one semester-hour and three semester-hour physical activity courses housed in the Department of Health, Leisure, and Exercise Science (HLES). The courses are open to all University of West Florida students.

Life-time Activity courses make an important contribution to overall student health (both current and future). The program is particularly responsive to the fact that students have become increasingly inactive on college campuses. The university community is experiencing some negative after-effects of this trend. Life-time Activity courses provide students an opportunity (for academic credit) to be more physically active/physically fit during their college experience as well as acquire new skills and knowledge to be active once they leave college.

Highly qualified instructors deliver exciting activities such as:

  • Shotokan Karate I, II, and III
  • Weight Training
  • Backpacking and Hiking
  • Aerobic Conditioning
  • Beginning Tennis
  • Swimming
  • Yoga Fitness
  • Dance
  • Outdoor Adventure (backpacking, rock climbing, rope course, orienteering, geocaching and more)
  • Beach Sports (surfing, body boarding, ocean kayaking, beach volleyball, surf fishing, jet skiing and more)
  • Body Shaping (yoga, Pilates, cardio karate, water aerobics, step aerobics, basic training and more)
  • Cardio Weight Lifting
  • Yoga I, II, III, IV
  • Fitness Swimming
  • Water Aerobics
  • Boot Camp Running
