Taught graduate and undergraduate sport management courses and directed the graduate sport management program. Other duties include a major reconstruction of the program curriculum to meet the NASSM/NASPE program standards; recruitment of faculty and graduate students; advising graduate degree plans and theses; and supervision of graduate and undergraduate internship. Served on the Executive Board of the North American Society for Sport Management (NASSM) and on the Program Reviewers of the NASSM/NASPE Council of Sport Management Program Standards.

September 1998           Visiting Senior Lecturer (three-year contract). The College of

Business Administration, University of Technology, Sydney, Australia for a term from August of 1998 to December of 2000. (Unable to assume the duty due to three months of visa delay by the Australian Consulate)

Performance, San Jose State University.

Directed the Sport Management Graduate Program with similar duties stated as the program director at Texas Tech University. Particularly created two additional major graduate courses (Financial Aspects in Sport Management & Sport Marketing and Promotion) to improve the program quality in curricular content coverage and to meet the professional accreditation standards. Also provided extensive services at department and college committees, as well as other local sport organizations.

Developed the sport management undergraduate program with the responsibilities of (not limited to) the curricular construction, teaching required major courses, student recruitment, advising student majors in degree plans, internship supervision, and program publicity. Initiated a pre-admission counseling practice for interested students and parents to facilitate the growth of enrollment significantly. The enrollment increased from less than fifteen students in the first year to over sixty (the most possibly allowed program size) during my four years of tenure. Besides teaching both graduate and undergraduate majors courses, also conducted researches and published scholarly works, and served on a number of committees in the department, college, university, and other community-based sport organizations.

marshal art, statistics, sport management, foundation of physical education, exercise physiology, and different sports. Co-edited the Beijing University of Physical Education Journal. Managed publication budgets, hiring process, public exhibits, and other administrative duties.

                                    Managed the national sports programs in swimming, diving, water polo, and synchronized swimming for the national teams operations, funding and evaluation of the farm systems, certification of nationally classified officials, national tournaments organization and supervision, award selections, preparations for the Olympic Games and other international tournaments, as well as other administrative responsibilities.

Administrative Experiences

1996                            Envoy Manager, the 1996 Atlanta Paralympic Organizing Committee (APOC).

·        Designed and developed the 1996 Paralympic Games Envoy Training Program with a team of three managers under the Director of Envoy Program. Prepared training materials for the program and was in charge of the final evaluation at the completion of this program. Assumed other related managerial duties during twelve months of the training.

·        Managed over 150 Envoys who represented APOC to work with a total of 37 national Paralympic delegations from Asia and East Europe during the operation of the 1996 Atlanta Paralympic Games in terms of their daily job assignment and problem-solving for any operational issues.

·        Responsible for the Chefs de Mission’s daily conferences and press release in operational issues.

1985-1986                   Editor in Charge, Beijing Sport University Press

·        Evaluated publication proposals and reviewed the submitted book manuscripts. Budgeted for publications and purchased materials for publications. Partially responsible for the editing of the university’s journal.

·        Handled administrative process for the publication and distributed published books. Recruited, hired editors and conducted other personnel related issues. Planned and participated in national and international exhibits.

1983-1984                   National Manager of Aquatic Sports Programs, The State Commission of Physical Culture and Sport of China c/o All-China Sport Federation, Beijing, China. Duties included (not limited to):

·        Managed and continuingly developed aquatic sports programs nationwide in terms of national teams, national and international tournaments participation, and farm system for talented athletes.

·        Reviewed and revised policies and regulations governing the national swimming and water polo programs under the Director of Training and Competition. Reviewed and issued the certificates for the national officials in the correspondent sports

·        Directed the 1983 and 1984 national water polo tournaments and championships. Assisted to manage the national swimming and water polo teams. Participated the 1984 Olympic Games as the team manager for the Chinese National Water Polo Team.

·        Reviewing the national officials’ certifications in correspondent sports. Created and organized the annual award of the “Nationally Distinguished Athletes” in swimming, water polo, diving, and synchronized swimming, and the annual award of the “Nationally Distinguished Swimming Hometown and Distinguished Swimming Facility”.
