Route It: Detouring a Route
Detouring a route sends the route to someone who is not typically included in the route process. You may choose to detour if your decision depends on information from someone else, or if you simply want to make someone aware of the information contained in the route. The person you detour to will then receive an email directing them to Route It.
Steps:
- To detour a route, click the Detour Request button.
- Search for the employee that you wish to detour to using their last name, email address, or ArgoNet username.
- Your search results appear in the box below. Select the correct employee from the drop-down list.
- If desired, you may enter comments or instructions for the individual. These will be sent in the email along with a link to the route.
- You are presented with two detour options. If you chose Return for your review and decision, then after the Detour is complete, the route will return to you for your final action before preceding the next step in the route process. You should use this option when your action depends on input from the person you are detouring to. Choosing Continue routing with your approval, indicates that you approve the route, but sends the route as an FYI to the person you are detouring to.
- Finally, click Detour to send the route to the individual designated above.
