Step 1: Look up your office computer's full name
You must know your computer's full name in order to access your office computer from your home computer. Follow the steps below to look up your office computer name:
- From your office computer, go to the Start Menu button, right-click Computer, then click Properties.
- Write down the Full computer name, then close the window.
Step 2: Set up your office computer to use Remote Desktop
Note: If you find that you do not have the appropriate access to make these changes, contact your Local Support Provider or the ITS Help Desk.
- From your office computer, click the Start button. Open the Control Panel.
- Select System Maintenance.
- Under System, click Allow remote access.
- Place a checkmark beside Allow Remote Assistance connections to this computer.
- Select Allow connections from computers running any version of Remote Desktop.
- Click Apply, then click OK.

Step 3: Configure Remote Desktop on Your Home Computer
Windows XP Users: Update to Remote Desktop Connection 7.0 before you begin.
- From your home computer, click the Start button. Select All Programs > Accessories > Remote Desktop Connection.
- Click Options.

- Enter your full Computer name (from step 1).
- For Username, enter the word argonet followed by a backslash and your ArgoNet username (ex. argonet\jdoe).

- Click on the Advanced tab, and then click Settings.

- Connection Settings:
- Select Use these RD Gateway server settings
- Server Name: rdp.uwf.edu
- Logon Method: Allow me to select later
- Uncheck Bypass RDGateway server for Local Addresses
- Check Use my RDGateway credentials for the remote computer
- Click OK

- Click the General tab, and then click Save As... Enter a meaningful name such as "UWF Remote Computer" and save the connection to your Desktop.

Step 4: Connect to Your Office Computer from Home
- Make sure your office computer is turned on.
- From your home computer, double click the connection icon on your desktop that you created in Step 3-7.
- When finished using Remote Desktop, end the session by clicking the X on the Remote Desktop bar at the top of your screen.
Note: When you connect to your office computer, Remote Desktop automatically locks the office computer. When you return to your office, you can unlock your computer by typing CTRL+ALT+DEL.
