Return to Publishing Audio and Video Files Main Page
When creating video clips for podcasts, streaming, or download, we suggest the use of "Windows Movie Maker" software which comes with Windows XP and Vista. If you will be recording live video, be sure to use a digital camcorder.
Mac Users: For Macs, "iMovie" software is recommended.
Specific steps for creating video depends on the software you use. Please refer to your software documentation for instructions. UWF faculty may contact the Academic Technology Center (ATC) for help getting started. When creating your video, we recommend the following standards for optimal performance and consistency.
When creating video, it is important to select the appropriate quality. This will ensure viewing quality while maintaining a reasonable file size.
| Quality | Best Suited for... | Selections |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | Most applications, such as lectures, interviews, and other instructional recordings. |
|
| High | For detailed demonstrations of relatively short duration or performances. |

When creating an audio file, it is important to select the appropriate audio quality. This will ensure listening quality while maintaining a reasonable file size.
| Quality | Best Suited for... | Selections |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | Most video files, particularly those with audio composed entirely of voice. |
|
| High | Short video files and video files that contain a lot of music. |
|
The file format should be selected based on how you will be delivering the video to your audience.
Video Streams and Media Downloads
Save the file as a Windows Media Video (.wmv).
