Return to Publishing Audio and Video Files Main Page
| Media downloads can be used with these file types: .mp3, .wmv, .mov, .rm |
There are three ways to publish media files at UWF: podcasting, video streaming, and media download. Media downloads are the easiest to create and work with the most file types. The media file is simply saved in a web folder and a link to the file is posted for your audience. When a viewer clicks on the link, the media file is downloaded to their computer before it begins to play
Follow the instructions below to create a media download for your file. If you do not already have a media file and will be creating one from scratch, refer to Creating a Video File: Guidelines or Creating an Audio File: Guidelines.
Save the file on your I: drive or your department/organization web folder.
In the example below, John Doe saved his file "video1.wmv" on his I: drive within a sub-folder named "mymedia."

Create a link to your file to share with others. Use the web address below, replacing the red sections with the file name and location that you chose in Step 2.
