A firewall is a tool that prevents unauthorized access to your computer. All messages entering or leaving must pass
through the firewall, which examines each message and blocks those that do not
meet the specified security criteria.
If you are using Window XP or Vista, you have a built-in firewall. By default, the firewall is turned on; however, some computer manufacturers or network administrators turn it off.
