Gmail IMAP for Entourage 2008
Follow the instructions below to set up Entourage 2008 to receive Gmail messages via an IMAP connection. Keep in mind that Entourage only works for email - the UWF Calendar must be managed through the UWF Google Apps web interface at gmail.uwf.edu.
IMPORTANT: When someone schedules an event with you in Google, you will receive the invitation in Entourage. Accept or decline the meeting using the "Yes/No" links in the body of the email. This will put the event on your Google Calendar instead of your Entourage calendar.
DEPARTMENT/ORGANIZATION EMAIL: In place of your personal name, email address, username, and password, you must use the department/organization information. If you are a responsible party for the account, you can look up the password in the My ArgoNet app in MyUWF. If you are not a responsible party, you must ask the responsible party for the account to look up the password and enter the information for you.
- Open Entourage.
- From the Tools, select Accounts.
- Click New.
- Select IMAP, then click OK.
- On the Edit Account page, enter the following:
- Account name: Your name
- Under Personal Information:
- Name: Your Name
- Email address: Your email address
- Under Receiving mail:
- Account ID: Your email address
- IMAP server: imap.gmail.com
- Password: Your ArgoNet password
- Check the box for Save password in my Mac OS keychain
- Under Sending mail:
- SMTP server: smtp.gmail.com
- Click the button: Click here for advanced receiving options, then check the box for This IMAP service requires a secure connection (SSL).
- Click the button: Click here for advanced sending options, then enter the following:
- Check the box for SMTP service requires secure connection (SSL)
- Check the box for Override default SMTP port, then enter 465 into the box
- Check the box for SMTP server requires authentication, then choose the radio button for Use same settings as receiving mail server
- Click OK.
The Next Steps will Set Up the UWF Address List
- From the Entourage menu, select Tools > Accounts > Directory Service.
- Select New.
- Select Configure Account Manually.
- Enter the following information:
- Account Name: UWF LDAP
- LDAP server: ldap.uwf.edu
- Select This LDAP server requires authentication.
- Account ID: Your Argonet username
- Password: Your Argonet password
- Make sure Save password in my MAC OS keychain is checked.
- Select the Options tab.
- In the Search base field enter dc=argo,dc=uwf,dc=edu
- Click OK.
