The Panhellenic Council at the University of West Florida is comprised of four sororities that are members of the National Panhellenic Conference (NPC). The Panhellenic Council has also welcomed Delta Phi Lambda Asian-Interest Sorority as an Associate member of the Panhellenic Council at the University of West Florida.
As a council, the women of the Panhellenic Council strive to promote leadership, diversity, scholastic achievement and service through relationships within and beyond the Panhellenic community. We do this by facilitating educational and philanthropic events, student involvement opportunities, and community-wide service activities.
The Panhellenic Council is governed by an Executive Board comprised of 6 members from the NPC sororities in the council. These members were chosen by vote from the four NPC member sororities (based on voting eligibility).

In the beginning of the fall semester the Panhellenic Executive Board organizes a Formal Recruitment for their four NPC member sororities. Panhellenic Formal Recruitment is a five day recruitment process in which Potential New Members (PNMs) have the opportunity to meet women of the four NPC member sororities and get a glimpse into what it is like to a part of their organization. Panhellenic Formal Recruitment is a very structured process in which each day PNMs visit a number of chapters and at the end of the day PNMs will preference the organizations. Each day the PNMs attend fewer and fewer events, the chapters the visit are based on the mutual selection process. At the end of the week bids are distributed to those who are still in the process and PNMs have the finally get to run home to their new sorority.
During Panhellenic Formal Recruitment PNMs are put into groups. These groups are led by two Recruitment Counselors also known as Beta Chis. These women are the PNMs guides and counselors for the week. These women disassociate from their organizations to in order to fully assist the PNMs in the recruitment process. The PNM will be better able to make her preferences based on what she personally wants if she is not swayed by the organization of her Beta Chi, whom she becomes close with. Additionally, by disassociating the Beta Chis are promising to be there for the best interest of the PNM and the Panhellenic Community.
