MEDIA RELEASE
February 16, 2009
The University of West Florida has been selected as a project affiliate to participate in “The Project for Scholarly Integrity.” The project is an initiative of the Council of Graduate Schools (CGS), which seeks to help graduate students become fully aware of the wide variety of issues involved in the ethical and responsible conduct of research. Other selected affiliates include Princeton University, Duke University, Georgia Institute of Technology and Purdue University.
With funding from the U.S. Office of Research Integrity, CGS has given awards to seven universities to develop models for integrating research and scholarly integrity into the graduate school experience. Carla Thompson, director of the Community Outreach, Research and Learning Center, and a faculty committee will coordinate UWF efforts which will initially focus on the degree to which research integrity concepts are covered in UWF graduate research courses.
