2013 Legislative Session

(Updated 6/4/13) The 2013 legislative session concluded on May 3, 2013. Some bills are still awaiting the Governor's signature, while many others have already become law. Governor Rick Scott's 2013 Bill Action page provides a complete list of all the bills passed during the legislative session along with the date the bill was presented to the Governor and the Governor's action on the bill. 2013-14 Budget News

(Updated 6/4/13) The budget was presented to Governor Rick Scott on May 9, 2013. On May 20th, the Governor signed the appropriations act with several line item vetoes. We have created a table that shows the final legislative budget amount along with what was vetoed by the Governor. To view this table, click the link below:

2013-14 Employee Benefits News

(Updated 6/4/13) The major piece of legislation related to employee benefits did not pass out of the Florida Senate. This was the only employee benefits-related bill we were tracking.

Mission:

It is the mission of the Governmental Relations Office to manage communications with governmental stakeholders at the local, state and federal level including agencies and elected officials. The director works with administrators, faculty, staff and students to identify issues for legislative action and works directly with legislators to effectuate outcomes beneficial to the university.
