The University of West Florida's Interfraternity Council (IFC) is the governing body of the eight national fraternities at UWF, seven of which are members of the North-American Interfraternity Conference (NIC). IFC strives to promote high academic standards, philanthropic services, resources for recruitment, and inter-fraternity unity.
The North-American Interfraternity Conference (NIC) is an organization established to foster inter-fraternity relations and assist in the development and education of NIC fraternities and their member chapters. These organizations are dedicated to personal development, academic achievement, leadership, and service to the campus community. Activities of an NIC fraternity may include study halls, community service projects, cook-outs, intramural sports, educational programs, sorority mixers, formal dances, and leadership training. Fraternities ultimately offer close friendships that will last through college and beyond.
IFC is governed by an Executive Board comprised of 5 members from the fraternities in the council. These members were chosen by vote from the eight fraternities (based on voting eligibility).
Each semester the IFC Executive Board assists in organizing Recruitment for their eight fraternities. In the spring and fall it is a semi-structured process. IFC will organize an opportunity for potential new members (PNMs) to meet individuals from each chapter at a Kick-Off event. PNMs should check out the Fraternity & Sorority Life calendar to see when each chapters Recruitment events are throughout the beginning of the semester. PNMs should attend these events, meet the guys in each fraternity, and after meeting the fraternities if a chapter wishes to extend the PNM an invite for membership (bid) they will do so by contacting him directly. All PNMs must register for recruitment to have their grades verified before receiving or accepting a bid, this link is below.
