Academic Year 2008-2009 Quick and Easy Steps
(Fall 2008, Spring 2009, Summer 2009)

The application period for the 2008–2009 academic year began January 1, 2008. The 2006–2007 application covers Fall 2008, Spring 2009, and Summer 2009 semesters.

1. The US Department of Education encourages electronic application. Please obtain your (student and parent) federal pin number now. This pin number will serve as your electronic signature on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, also known as the FAFSA.
   
   The pin website is www.pin.ed.gov. You will receive the pin electronically in 1-3 days, if you provide an email address. Otherwise, it will be mailed to you through regular mail in 7-10 days.
    
2. As soon as possible after January 1, complete the FAFSA on the web at www.fafsa.ed.gov. If you sign the FAFSA using your pin, and have provided your email address, the results are available in 3-5 days electronically. If the results are sent through regular mail, it will be called a Student Aid Report and could take 3-4 weeks to receive. UWF’s school code is 003955.
    
3. The University of West Florida has an Institutional Financial Aid Application that MUST be completed in addition to the FAFSA.
   

***Please ensure that both forms are completed timely and accurately. UWF awards aid on a first-come, first-serve basis. It is also important to understand that you must complete both of these forms every year.

NOTE: If for some reason you are unable to complete the forms electronically, both are available in the paper format. You may contact our office to have them sent to you.
