
Government, History, Law, Community Stewardship...what does all this mean to me?
Overview of Program:
- 1-week government, social studies and civics enrichment program
- Designed for incoming 7-12 graders
- Learn and understand democratic principles of our government by discussing three of the founding documents: The Declaration of Independence, it's themes, and how these ideals are reflected in The Constitution and The Bill of Rights.
- Students will learn the following:
- Pensacola's role in the American Revolution
- Judicial process and the right to counsel
- How does county government affect me?
- Meet local officials in public service and administration roles such as The Mayor of Pensacola and a County Commissioner
- Students will explore City Hall, the M.C. Blanchard Judicial Building and the Federal Courthouse.
- Friday, students will culminate with a day long trip to the State of Florida's capital in Tallahassee. (A parent or family member is encouraged to attend as well for this day-long trip).

What will you gain?
A greater understanding of civic involvement and community stewardship will provide a unique opportunity to meet and discuss issues with local leaders. Through this experience students will gain a better appreciation of local, state and federal government.
Friday Trip:
Get ready for a day trip to Tallahassee to learn about our state government. Parents or a family member are invited to attend as well.
