Overview
The Excellence Matters Faculty and Staff Reward and Recognition Program is designed to recognize the tremendous efforts and contributions faculty and staff make to the University of West Florida. Excellence Matters provides individual employee recognition for outstanding service and actions that exemplify UWF's core values - caring, integrity, quality, innovation, teamwork, stewardship and courage. Excellence Matters rewards employees who put UWF's standards of ambassadorship, communications, courtesy, flexibility, helpfulness, knowledge, ownership, professionalism, responsiveness and safety into action.
Objectives
- To recognize and promote positive behaviors that support individual, work group, unit, team, department, school and/or institutional mission and business goals and objectives.
- To provide timely recognition to employees.
- To provide recognition based on the employees’ contribution.
- To provide both “Employee of the Month” and Team recognition and rewards.
- To provide initiated recognition and rewards.
- To improve employee productivity and quality of work.
- To improve customer service
Employee of the Month
Any UWF faculty, staff, OPS and student employee may be nominated for an Excellence Matters “Employee of the Month” award by anyone within the university community. Nomination Forms are available around campus and online at uwf.edu/excellencematters and must be submitted by the 20th of the month for review monthly by the awards committee. Announcements are made the following month in "Argus Today." Repeat nominations are welcome.
Excellence Matters recognition has been established to recognize employee contributions that go way above, beyond and outside of normal job duties.
Team Award (presented quarterly)
A team consists of two (2) or more employees working together to achieve a common goal(s). No employment limits. Permanent, OPS and student employees are eligible.
On the Spot Recognition
This form of recognition can be given by any faculty, staff or student for immediate recognition to the recipient based on demonstration of the university’s values and standards through specific actions or contributions.
