UWF Sexual Misconduct, Sexual Violence, Gender-Based Discrimination and Retaliation Policy

Sexual Misconduct, as defined by this policy comprises a broad range of behaviors that is not tolerated in the UWF community. The University is committed to fostering a community that promotes prompt reporting of all types of sexual misconduct and gender-based discrimination. This Policy outlines the University's processes for handling acts of sexual misconduct or gender-based discrimination.

Campus Sexual Violence Elimination (SaVE) Act‌

Under the VAWA Act, the Campus SaVE Act outlines specific mandates and process for college campuses and universities in how they address issues of sexual misconduct and relationship violence.

Summary to the Violence Against Women (VAWA) Act‌

VAWA is a United States federal law that addresses issues of domestic and sexual violence by funding services within communities that work to prevent, increase awareness about, and respond to these issues.

Dear Colleague Letter‌

In April, 2011 the U.S. Department of Education and its Office for Civil Rights issued this letter to colleges, universities, and schools across the country to assert that they must address issues of sexual violence and harassment under Title IX requirements. The letter outlined specific activities that educational institutions must implement related to prevention, training, reporting and response to such violations.

U‌WF Prohibition of Discrimination, Harassment, and Retaliation Policy

UWF is committed to ensuring that each member of the University community is permitted to work and study in an environment that is free from discrimination or harassment based on the following protected classes: age, color, disability, gender, marital status, national origin, race, religion, sexual orientation and veteran status and which is free from prohibited retaliation. This policy outlines university definitions and processes for reporting and responding to discriminatory practices.
