The ECAB club members will work with branch campus faculty and staff to plan and promote student activities and events at UWF's branch campus locations. This is a great opportunity for students who are interested in participating in campus-related student activities and in making a difference in the university experiences of branch campus students. The hourly commitment will only be 10 hours monthly, and meetings are slated to be bi-monthly. Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Contact: Dr. Bassam Shaer Ph: 850.833.9381 Email: bshaer@uwf.edu The FWB student branch of the Institute of Electrical and electronics Engineers (IEEE) provides a great opportunity for its members to meet and learn from students, faculty, and professionals in the area of engineering. The FWB student branch has been active for over 10 months in which it has held meetings with members of the engineering community including Eglin AFB and private engineering firms. The branch holds regular meetings to discuss IEEE related topics. The branch also organizes extra curricular activities such as canoe trips to Blackwater River in Northwest Florida. The branch maintains contact with the professional North West Florida IEEE Chapter. Emerald Coast plays an intricate role and influences the university's
decision-making process by serving as a liaison between the students
and governing bodies. The UWF Teacher Education Club has operated on the Fort Walton Beach branch campus since the spring semester of 2004. Since its founding, the club has worked to establish beneficial connections between the local education community and UWF students. This goal has been and continues to be accomplished through open monthly forums conducted on the FWB campus. Education community members and special guests are invited to present at our monthly meetings. UWF students enjoy learning about the diverse range of topics presented. The UWF Teacher Education Club maintains that it is important that UWF students are provided with opportunities to participate in student activities on our campus. The Teacher Education Club provides just such an opportunity for UWF/FWB branch campus students! Their purpose is to promote and serve UWF. As student leaders, these volunteers are selected through an interview process based on minimum GPA requirement, communication abilities, an interest in promoting UWF. Since the first student volunteers donned their green ambassador jackets in 1986, Ambassadors have assisted with numerous University functions and served as liaisons between students, faculty, alumni, and the community. The Student Ambassador program was initiated at UWF Emerald Coast in the fall of 2005 and has been highly successful.
