Meetings are usually held in Pensacola.Purpose The HRRM program is designed to prepare students of the rapidly growing resort, recreation, and tourism management industry. The program’s proximity to the beautiful Emerald Coast tourist communities, such as Destin, South Walton County and Fort Walton Beach, provides a living laboratory where students can apply first-hand the knowledge and theories they learn in the classroom.Program Information The Hospitality, Recreation and Resort Management degree is a total of 60 hours. There are 51 hours of required courses (42 in-major and 9 from other departments), and students may select 3 courses or 9 hours of HRRM electives to complete their programs. Currently, students may complete all of their course requirements at either the Emerald Coast Campus in FWB. This website lists a variety of scholarships offered through direct application to various associations, organizations, and companies. Additional scholarship information is available through the following UWF website: http://uwf.edu/finaid/scholarships.cfmStudent Internship/Student Teaching/Service-Learning Information The HRRM program offers 2 service learning courses. During the students first year, they take a field study course. The class consists of two elements: (1) practical experience working in a major-related job (160 hours), and (2) practical experience volunteering in a service learning capacity (40 hours). During the senior year, students complete and internship. The internship is a more comprehensive experience (400 hours minimum) for a student who is of senior standing and has completed one year of HRRM coursework. Their experience should allow them to put classroom knowledge to use.
