W.E. Combs Campus Undergraduate | Environmental Studies John Waldron, Ph.D. Program Information The Environmental Studies program at UWF Emerald Coast is designed for students to complete their Junior & Senior level coursework in the Environmental Policy degree track with a GIS (geographic information systems) certificate. Courses are offered at the Combs, FWB, and Eglin Campuses as well as online. Graduates of our program can be employed in environmental management and decision-making at local, state, and national environmental agencies; as GIS specialists; or seek higher degrees. Student Organization Information Green Earth Alliance, the UWF Environmental Club, is dedicated to preservation, conservation and restoration of our natural ecosystems. The purpose of Green Earth Alliance is to create an appreciation and awareness for our surrounding environment. The club meets on a bi-weekly schedule. Membership into the club is offered to any student, staff member or public citizen. Green Earth Alliance also arranges monthly camping trips, canoe outings and community projects. Student Environmental Action Society, or SEAS, as it is known, is committed to educating students, businesses, and citizens as to the importance of environmental awareness and natural resource conservation. SEAS is based out of the University of West Florida and is funded primarily through grants and community donations from generous citizens and businesses in our area.
The Environmental Studies department can help arrange for a variety of GIS and Environmental Internships with local and regional entities including the City of Fort Walton Beach and Eglin Air Force Base.
