Note: The PEPP course rotation begins in summer ONLY. Students also pursuing a master's degree may begin the coursework in the fall or spring with careful planning. Contact pepp@uwf.edu for advising.
Step 1: Preparation
- Review the PEPP Admission Requirements
- Identify your Program Option (Track A: Students who have completed non-education undergraduate or graduate degrees or Track B: Students pursuing non-education bachelor's degrees).
- Determine if you are applying to PEPP as a non-degree student (Florida Temporary Teaching Certification only), a graduate student (Florida Temporary Teaching Certification and UWF Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction), or if you are already a non-education major.
- Note the deadlines for application submission.
- Contact the PEPP Advising at pepp@uwf.edu with questions
Step 2: Application
- If you are NOT currently pursuing a non-education bachelor's degree, complete the UWF Non-degree Application or UWF Graduate Application (select the Curriculum & Instruction Master's degree and choose a specialization area). Note: Students must be degree-seeking to qualify for financial aid.
- Complete the online PEPP Application Form and select a concentration area.
- If you are pursuing Temporary Certification AND the Master's degree in Curriculum & Instruction you must also request that a current (within five years) GRE or MAT exam score be sent to Graduate Admissions.
Step 3: Transcripts
- Degree-seeking Graduate Students: Arrange to have one official copy of all college transcripts sent directly to The University of West Florida, Graduate Admissions, 11000 University Parkway, Building 11, Pensacola, FL 32514
- Degree-seeking Undergraduate Students: Arrange to have one official copy of all college transcripts sent directly to The University of West Florida, Admissions Office, 11000 University Parkway, Building 18, Pensacola, Florida, 32514

In addition, if you previously submitted official copies of transcripts from other colleges/universities and there were no changes since they were received by the University, then you do not need to resubmit these transcripts.)
Step 4: Letter of Intent and Professional References
- Submit contact information for two professional references and a letter of intent here
- For students pursuing temporary certification only (non-degree), your Letter of Intent should include the following information: your background, reasons for pursuing PEPP, and short- and long-term teaching goals. If you are pursuing temporary certification AND the UWF Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction please address your background, reasons for pursuing PEPP, short- and long-term teaching goals, contributions you would like to make to your field of study and strengths you would bring to the PEPP program.
Step 5: Advising and Registration
- Upon admission, you will receive official notification from the University as well as the School of Education, which will include contact information for your Advisor.
- Contact your Advisor to develop a course plan.
- Register for courses via MyUWF (Note: Some of your courses will require permission codes. Therefore you will need to contact the PEPP Advising before registering for these courses. PEPP will register students for all practica and student teaching.)

- Students in the UWF service area (Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa Counties) may select their preferred county and region on the PEPP Application Form. Students requesting placement in Santa Rosa County must also complete the Santa Rosa Disclosure Form. Students will not be placed in Santa Rosa without this form and will be placed in Escambia County. Please drop off or mail a hard copy of the disclosure form to UWF, COPS, School of Education, PEPP Field Placements, 11000 University Parkway, Bldg. 85, Pensacola, FL, 32514. You may also fax (850-474-2844/Attention: PEPP Advising) or email a scanned copy of the SRD form to pepp@uwf.edu. A new form must be filled out each fieldwork semester. Students out of the UWF service area should choose "Other" on the PEPP Admissions Application and work with the Field Placement Coordinator to secure appropriate placements.
- Students need to secure their own liability and medical insurance AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. UWF will not cover any illness or injury sustained during field experience. You should also begin the "background check and fingerprinting process" in the county you plan to complete your practica and student teaching. Please be aware that each school district has different policies and students should follow their specific county's guidance. PEPP candidates WILL NOT be allowed to start fieldwork until these mandatory steps are completed. (Refer to the PEPP Student Handbook for more information. The handbook is available on the UWF PEPP SoE internal website and is accessible for students with MyUWF accounts.)
