Mark Spitznagel brings to the classroom considerable expertise and practical wisdom gained from years of professional experience. Mr. Spitznagel has been a Licensed Professional Engineer since 1983 and is a Certified General Contractor. He is currently the President and owner of LandMark Engineering and Land Planning, Inc. LandMark has been in the consulting engineering and construction management business for over 12 years, doing over 400 engineering and construction projects per year.
Prior to his coming to UWF, Mr. Spitznagel worked over 20 years as an Officer in the Civil Engineering Corps of the U.S. Navy, participating in numerous engineering and construction projects all over the United States, Europe, and the Pacific Islands. After retiring from the U.S. Navy, he successfully started and managed four other small corporations in real estate development, mechanical contractor services, construction management services, and engineering services. He was also a managing partner in a 250-acre residential land development in Auburn, Alabama, from 1990-2000.
Besides managing his business concerns and teaching in the Engineering and Computer Technology Department at the University of West Florida, Mr. Spitznagel is a staff consultant at the Escambia County Health Department in the Water Management Division. He also volunteers with Boy Scout Troop 632.
