Jim Weeks' educational and civil engineering background make him a valued member of the Construction Program's adjunct faculty. Mr. Weeks graduated from UWF with a B.A. in Humanities Interdisciplinary and from Tennessee Technological University with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. He became a registered engineer in Florida in 1981 and holds professional engineer registrations in Florida, Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia. Early in his career, he worked a draftsman for Weeks Architects and for a mid-sized general contractor performing construction estimates for residential, commercial, and government projects.
Mr. Weeks has considerable experience as a civil engineer in the public arena. As Executive Director of Navarre Beach, he was responsible for the Navarre Beach Utility Building, the Wastewater Treatment Plant Expansion, the Elevated Water Storage Tank, and the Public Parking Facilities for the Santa Rosa County Board of County Commissioners. He has also served as the Director of Engineering Operations for the Florida Keys Aqueduct and as State Bridge Hydraulics Engineer, State Specifications Engineer, State Utility Engineer, and Construction Project Manager for the Florida Department of Transportation, where he oversaw the construction of several major bridges and roadways
Currently, Mr. Weeks is President of Weeks Planning & Engineering, Inc., which focuses on site civil design and permitting, building construction, and issue resolution.
