Dr. Rasmussen is a professor and the Chair of the Department of Engineering and Computer Technology. She consults in the design and development of a variety of products, including gaming and simulation interventions for math and science initiatives and WebQuests for QuickScience, a tool for teachers that is used to support science and technology initiatives. She was co-designer and co-developer of UWF's first online program, a master's in Instructional Technology, which had a retention rate of 96% for its initial cohort! She has worked in the creation of technology-rich, authentic learning environments and collaborates extensively in the area of online professional development. She has also conducted hundreds of training sessions in areas of application and productivity software and the use of technology for learning.
Dr. Rasmussen's primary research interests lie in the areas of technology integration, online support systems, and the design and development of Web-based learning environments. She publishes in the areas of competencies for instructional designers, assessment and student performance for online expeditions, supporting learners in distance environments through support systems and mentors, and the design and development of learning communities and distance learning programs.
