Andrew (Andy) Heitman has worked in the local building construction industry for over 10 years. Most of this time has been spent as a consulting engineer, designing mechanical systems for scores of local new construction and renovation projects. He has been a part owner of two local consulting engineering firms and founded Building Energy Sciences, LLC. BES LLC provides energy consulting, building commissioning services, and building systems analysis to all stakeholders in the building construction and operations industry.
Andy is an EIT (Georgia), LEED Accredited Professional, member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE). He serves on the local ASHRAE chapter board of directors, is a member of the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE), and is a member of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). Through the AEE, Andy has attained the following certifications: Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Certified Sustainable Design Professional (CSDP), and Certified Building Commissioning Professional (CBCP).
Andy earned a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Pensacola Christian College in 1997 and went on to get a Master of Business Administration from UWF in 2003. Currently, he teaches Construction Mechanics I and II.
