The Department is to ensure that
its graduates, in their full diversity, achieve mastery of the skill sets
that will enable them not only to perform the professional work tasks
in their respective fields competently but also assume roles as strategic
team members who can apply innovative planning and problem solving to
further the goals of their organizations. |
STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES
Graduates of the Career and Technical Education (CTE) program should be able to do the following:
Content
- Collect and use data gathered from a variety of sources, including formal and informal measures, to develop educational goals for CTE students
- Identify the cognitive, linguistic, emotional, and physical needs of CTE students and match them appropriately to instructional plans
- Engage in self-reflection regarding performance and to pursue opportunities for feedback to demonstrate commitment to continuous improvement as well as goal-setting in the CTE field
- Draw upon human development/learning theories and concepts as the foundation for instructional planning for CTE students
- Use a variety of strategies to help CTE students acquire knowledge and skills needed to succeed in life.
- Demonstrate knowledge in relevant subject fields through integration of real world learning activities designed for CTE students
- Design and establish effective learning environments that are conducive to high achievement of CTE students
Critical Thinking
- Master performance assessment techniques to promote and measure the thinking skills of CTE students
- Develop a repertoire of realistic projects and problem solving activities that will enable CTE students to improve their life skills and creative thinking abilities
Integrity/Values
- Establish high performance expectations and communicate these expectations to colleagues and the CTE students
- Adhere to the Code of Ethics and Principles of Professional Conduct of the Education Profession
- Seek the involvement of CTE students in instructional design
Communication
- Communicate accurately and effectively through oral presentational skills to deliver high quality education for CTE students
- Communicate accurately and effectively through the written word to deliver high quality education for CTE students
- Effectively collaborate with all families of CTE students and colleagues to facilitate optimal educational experiences for students
- Establish high performance expectations for CTE students and communicate these expectations to colleagues, families, and the student
Project Management
- Use instructional technology to manage, evaluate, and improve instruction for CTE students
- Design effective learning experiences to meet CTE students’ needs and interests
