2017 Emerging Leaders in IT for Government Contracting
Professional skills program for UWF students in the computing disciplines; preparing for CompTIA Security+ certification and entry into the Federal realm.
The UWF Hal Marcus College of Science and Engineering (HMCSE), has partnered with the Center for Cybersecurity, Career Services, and the Training Solutions + IT Academy to provide UWF undergraduate students in the computing disciplines with a suite of professional skills and credentials specifically tied to pursuing careers with Federal contractors in the IT realm. Completion of the UWF Emerging IT Leaders 2017 program will qualify students for expedited consideration for appropriate co-op and employment opportunities in fall 2017 and beyond.
Eligibility criteria for 30 current UWF juniors who:
- have a GPA of 3.0 or above,
- are pursuing a UWF Bachelor of Science degree in a computer-related discipline, and
- have the clean driving record and criminal history required for a security clearance.
The Emerging Leaders Program
The Emerging IT Leaders 2017 program will begin in January 2017, with monthly workshops and workforce seminars continuing through June 2017, followed by an intensive bootcamp to prepare students for an IT Security+ Certification exam in August 2017. Exam preparation materials and exam costs will be provided by HMCSE.
