The physics specialization imparts a fundamental understanding of classical mechanics, electrodynamics, thermodynamics, optics, and quantum mechanics to all students.

Program Description

The Physics Specialization focuses on the study of matter and its motion.  Ultimately, the goal of physics is to understand how nature behaves from the smallest sub-atomic particle to the entire universe, making it the most fundamental natural science.

Career Opportunities

Physics graduates will be able to work in a variety of settings following their undergraduate work. They can enter the job force and work in academia, industry, or research science. Some examples of career paths for Physics graduates include:

  • Astronomist
  • Metallurgist
  • Engineer
  • Seismic Interpreter
  • Geophysicist/field seismologist
