Application Process

UWF GIS staff take an active role in your education and in building experiences to best prepare you for life as a GIS professional. Through high impact learning, experiential and innovative methods, UWF stands apart. When you’re ready to apply for our Undergraduate or Graduate level GIS Certificates, please follow this step-by-step guide.


Step 1 - Apply to the Program

This GIS Certificate Program application is required for staff to verify your eligibility for the following GIS Certificate Programs:

  • Undergraduate GIS Certificate
  • Undergraduate GIS Archaeology Certificate
  • Graduate GIS Certificate
  • Graduate GIS Archaeology Certificate

Use this Letter of Intent Form to write a letter of intent that will be submitted with your program application.

For those wishing to have courses waived or when applying to graduate level certificate, submit a copy of your transcripts and Syllabi for courses you wish to have considered.

Applicants will be emailed with the committee's decision along with instructions on how to proceed within 30 days or less.

Step 3 - Get Started

  1. Activate your MyUWFaccount.
    • MyUWF will serve as your Internet access to online information throughout your educational career at UWF.  If you need help logging in please call ITS at (850) 474-2075
    • Once logged into your account, search for "holds." All new students typically have at least one hold placed on their account preventing enrollment.  Please visit the Online Immunization Requirements page and follow the instructions there.
  2. Online Student Orientation: To assist in having a beneficial educational experience here at UWF, please follow the guidance contained at the Online Student Orientation Link
  3. Be on the lookout for important emails from UWF and GIS Online regarding next steps and how to enroll in courses. Our staff will supply a personalized course plan for all students based on choices made on the program application.
