Dr. Mike Huggins
Michael Huggins, Dean of the Hal Marcus College of Science and Engineering. Mike has received several awards and fellowships over the course of his career, including the 2013 University Faculty Distinguished Service Award and the 2004 College of Arts and Sciences Distinguished Teaching Award. He has been awarded grants and contracts totaling more than $1 million and has been published in multiple books and professional journals. While at UWF, Dr. Huggins has led a large research group with more than 75 undergraduate students having worked in his lab. Many of these students have been co-authors on peer-reviewed publications and have presented their work at national and international chemistry conferences. As a member of the faculty, Dr. Huggins has taught courses in organic chemistry, supramolecular chemistry, organic synthesis, structure elucidation and spectroscopy. His scholarship and research has centered on the synthesis of organic molecules for uses in molecular recognition, supramolecular chemistry and drug discovery. Patrice Moorer currently serves as the Assistant Dean and Director of Advising for the Hal Marcus College of Science and Engineering and the College of Health. Moorer is responsible for handling student appeals and grievances, overseeing the student suspension/probation process, leading retention and graduation initiatives, coordinating Curriculum Change Requests (CCRs) and leading academic advising for the College of Health and the Hal Marcus College of Science and Engineering. She formerly served as the Director of Student Retention Initiatives at UWF, and was responsible for collaborating with university faculty, staff, and administrators to develop, implement, and measure outcomes of new programs and adapt existing programs/support services to increase the number of students at all class levels that return to UWF each year, complete their degree and graduate. She joined UWF in June 2013.
Moorer has successful experience in program development, implementation, evaluation and marketing of programs in higher education and public health research. Prior to UWF, she held several leadership positions in higher education to include: Manager of the Academic Success and Career Center (ASCC) at Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College, Director of Upward Bound at Claflin University and Research Project Supervisor at Emory University, Rollins School of Public Health and Woodruff School of Nursing.
Moorer received her Master of Science in Counseling from Mercer University and a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Southern New Hampshire University. email@example.com
Don Thompson, Director of Technology, provides expertise to assist the college in all matters technology, tech support for faculty and students, and consultation regarding technological purchases. Don oversees the college Help Desk, provides server administration and integration support, and provides leadership to all of the college's Local Support Providers (LSPs). Paula Wilson, Senior Administrative Specialist, returned to the Dean’s Office in November 2009 after a five year absence as an administrative assistant to the Vice Provost at UWF Emerald Coast Campuses. Paula oversees staff support in the Hal Marcus College of Science and Engineering (CSE) Dean’s Office and monitors and supports staff operations in all CSE departments. She assists the Dean with administrative functions that allow the college to operate efficiently and effectively. Paula was awarded a Certificate in Supervision and a Certificate in Management from UWF and is a member of the Sick Leave Pool Committee and past member of the UWF Staff Senate. Belinda Day has served as the Hal Marcus College of Science and Engineering (CSE) Business Manager since 2000 and has over twenty years of experience with UWF. Belinda has oversight responsibilities for all financial resources of the College, including the interpretation and implementation of university and divisional fiscal policies. She works with the Dean to coordinate available resources to achieve College goals and objectives. In addition, Belinda provides assistance and guidance to CSE Chairs and staff in managing budget issues within their respective departments. firstname.lastname@example.org
Tiffany Harper serves as the Marketing Coordinator for the Hal Marcus College of Science and Engineering. With a B.A. in Broadcast Communications from Asbury University in Wilmore, KY, and over 20 years of experience in graphic design and marketing, Tiffany provides expertise in developing and implementing the marketing needs of the College and its departments. Tiffany maintains oversight of the College's websites, social media, promotional materials, and signage in order to enhance the presence of the College to current and prospective students, alumni as well those in our local and surrounding communities. email@example.com
Alexis Tari - Desktop Systems Specialist. Supports the Hal Marcus College of Science and Engineering computing resources for faculty and staff as well as serves as assistant to the Director of Technology. Performs setup, installations, troubleshooting of Windows / Mac operating systems and hardware. Performs College webpage creation and maintenance utilizing the T4 content management system. firstname.lastname@example.org
