Movement Academy

Movement Academy is a physical education program for children and adolescents in the surrounding area. Our mission is to offer a unique variety of physical experiences and opportunities while providing an invaluable teaching experience for UWF physical education students.


The UWF Movement Academy is based in the HLES Facility, building 72, on the University of West Florida Pensacola campus. The Academy is staffed by UWF students who are seeking undergraduate and graduate degrees in physical education as well as UWF faculty and staff.

Schedule

The program is scheduled on a monthly basis during the Fall 2017 Semester as follows:
November 2-30, 2017 (No class November 23, 2017)
Tuesday & Thursday 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

January 11-30, 2018

Procedures

Parents are required to sign a UWF General Counsel's Office Liability Waiver and an Emergency Contact Form. We ask that students arrive a few minutes before class is scheduled to allow for check-in procedures. Click on the links below to download and print the forms. Forms must be completed each year.

Semester Registration Fees: Monthly Registration Fees:

2 Days Per Week:
$70.00 for first child, 
*$15.00 for each additional child.

1 Day Per Week:
$40.00 for first child, 
*$15.00 for each additional child.

2 Days Per Week:
$25.00 for first child, 
*$5.00 for each additional child.

1 Day Per Week:
$15.00 for first child, 
*$5.00 for each additional child.

*Each additional child must be from the immediate family.

 Typically, the participants are home-schooled and preschool-aged children. 
**Must be at least 4 years old.

Movement Academy Objectives
  • Demonstrate the ability to use interpersonal communication skills to enhance health and avoid or reduce health risks.
  • Demonstrate the ability to use decision-making skills to enhance physical education and health.
  • Demonstrate the ability to use goal-setting skills to enhance physical abilities and health.
  • Demonstrate the ability to practice health-enhancing behaviors and avoid or reduce health risks.
  • Demonstrates competency in motor skills and movement patterns needed to perform a variety of activities.
  • Demonstrates understanding of movement concepts, principles, strategies, and tactics as they apply to the learning and performance of physical activities.
  • Participates regularly in physical activity.
  • Achieves and maintains a health enhancing level of physical fitness.
  • Exhibits responsible personal and social behavior that respects self and others in physical activity settings.
  • Values physical activity for health, enjoyment, challenge, self- expression, and/or social interaction.
