Gain knowledge and skills in network security and risk management.
This course provides the student with the knowledge and skills required to identify risk, to participate in risk mitigation activities, and to provide infrastructure, application, information, and operational security. In addition students will build knowledge and skills required to apply security controls to maintain confidentiality, integrity, and availability, identify appropriate technologies and products, troubleshoot security events and incidents, and operate with an awareness of applicable policies, laws, and regulations. To obtain the Security+ certification, students must pass the CompTIA Security+ exam (SY0-401).
Online instruction delivered over approximately 8 weeks to participants in any location with a high-speed internet connection. Proficiency in Microsoft applications and utilizing a Windows based operating system is expected. In addition to scheduled online instructor sessions, students will need to be prepared to commit at least 9 hours a week to studies and LabSim activities to develop skills and knowledge within the following CompTIA Security+ Domains:
Compliance and Operational Security
Threats and Vulnerabilities
Application, Data and Host Security
Access Control and Identity Management
Students will be able to: demonstrate knowledge and skills required to identify risk; identify risk mitigation activities; maintain confidentiality, integrity, and availability of IT systems, devices, and data; identify appropriate security technologies and products, troubleshoot security events and incidents, and operate with an awareness of applicable policies, laws, and regulations.
