Gain the knowledge and skills required to troubleshoot, configure, and manage common network wireless and wired devices.
This course provides the student with the knowledge and skills required to troubleshoot, configure, and manage common network wireless and wired devices, establish basic network design and connectivity, understand and maintain network documentation, identify network limitations and weaknesses, and implement network security, standards, and protocols. In addition students will build their understanding of emerging technologies including unified communications, mobile, cloud, and virtualization technologies. To obtain the Network+ certification, students must pass the CompTIA Network+ Exam (N10-006).
Online instruction delivered over approximately 8 weeks to participants in any location with a high-speed internet connection. Participants in this program are expected to be proficient in Microsoft applications and utilizing a Windows based operating system. In addition to scheduled online instructor sessions, students will need to be prepared to commit at least 9 hours a week to studies and LabSim activities to develop skills and knowledge within the following CompTIA Network+ Domains:
- Network architecture
- Network operations
- Network security
- Industry standards, practices, and network theory
Prerequisite: pass UWF IT Academy pretest or complete Introduction to Networking
Students will be able to: demonstrate the knowledge and skills required to implement defined network architecture with basic network security; identify appropriate network tools and understand the features and purpose of network technologies needed to configure, maintain, and troubleshoot networks and associated devices; make basic solution recommendations, analyze network traffic, and be familiar with common protocols and media types.
