The Westing Game: Mystery Detectives

Does your child love solving mysteries? Campers follow a mystery and learn sleuthing skills along the way including how science and DNA play a role in solving crimes. Sixteen people proclaim to be the heir to Samuel Westing's vast estate. But, there's one problem—one of the 16 caused Samuel Westing's death! Upon opening Mr. Westing's will, they discover that he has designed one final game for them to play. They MUST find the culprit. The one to unlock the clues and discover the guilty party wins the entire estate worth $200,000,000! Who can you trust? It's a story of secrets, mystery and puzzles that will keep you guessing until the very end.
- Students will be able to acquire new vocabulary identified within the assigned text; locate unfamiliar words in the story and determine their meanings using strategies such as prior knowledge, context clues and group discussion.
- Students will gain experience working in teams and will participate in activities that foster creativity.
