Clinical Supervisor

Duties and Responsibilities:

The following duties are Essential:

The BCBA conducts field visits, develops client goals, reviews data and monitors client progress, periodically video records client sessions for supervision, makes program modifications as needed, provides parent training and education, and conducts regular team meetings. The BCBA also monitors staff competency and performance through collection of fidelity and reliability data, assessment of staff competencies, and provision and monitoring of staff professional development goals.

  • Participates in Team Meetings as needed
  • Conducts functional behavioral assessments, developmental assessments and writes progress reports.
  • Develops treatment plans based on the principles of ABA to address communication, feeding, behavior, ADLs and social skills.
  • Designs data collection systems to track and evaluate client progress on treatment plan objectives and modifies treatment plans as necessary.
  • Provides 1:1 ABA therapy in home, school and community-based environments.
  • Supervises ABA Technicians implementing ABA based treatment plans.
  • Coordinates ABA Technicians schedules with the family and trains family members on implementing the treatment plan.
  • Ensures that the child is in a safe and positive environment at all times.
  • Follows the policies and procedures of Trellis.
  • Other duties as assigned*

Education/Experience:

  • Master’s Degree is required
  • Board Certified Behavior Analyst required
  • Clinical experience in the field of ABA
  • Experience needed in Applied Verbal Behavior (VB)
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience working with children with autism, other developmental disabilities and behavioral problems
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise and train others independently

Language Skills:

Must have an excellent command of the English language and be able to communicate clearly and concisely in both written and verbal format.. The ability to read and interpret documents related to Maryland State Curriculum, accounting, policy and procedures manual(s), safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions.  Has the ability to write routine reports, letters and emails as well as general correspondences. Has the ability to speak effectively with special needs children and in describing general work needs and to speak effectively in interpersonal situations.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office products including Word, Outlook and Power Point and Excel
  • The individual should have knowledge of Trellis Services web-based systems/programs.   

Work Environment:

  • Employees are required to adhere to dress and grooming guidelines for their safety and protection in indoor and outdoor environments. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Our dress code is conducive to working with children in the in-class room school environment.
  • Most work is conducted in open classroom/recreational areas. Occasionally, work may be performed outside to facilitate specific types of trainings (e.g., CPI). In these instances walking short distances to areas with large, open spaces may be required.

Physical Demands:

  • Position requires physically prompting clients and requires the incumbent to move quickly from one room to another to support the client and staff member. In addition, transitioning from seated position on floor to standing, squatting, kneeling, twisting, bending, and reaching in order to analyze, assess, and interact with children and/or adults who frequently run, dart away, etc. with no warning.
  • Must be able to lift, push, and pull a minimum of 100 pounds.
  • Must be able to grasp, seize, hold and turn objects; reach at, above or below shoulder level to retrieve or utilize materials; pull, push, open and close file drawers, cabinets or office doors. 
  • Must be able to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, learning tools or toys; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus.
