We are happy to provide students in
Communication Arts the opportunity to use Macintosh computer
technology. In order to maximize the laboratory use, stretch
limited resources and insure the security of the equipment, the
following rules must be enforced.
- Food or drink is not permitted
in the lab at any time.
- Computers are to be used for
Communication Arts projects only. This means computers are to
be used for actual Commarts courses in which you are currently
enrolled. Other uses are allowed only with permission.
- No children are
allowed in the lab.
- No pets.
- Do not prop the door
open.
- Do not hook up any peripheral
devices to the computer system.
- Do not make "test
prints." Toner is expensive and in limited
supply.
- Do not make any changes
(additions/deletions) to the computer setup. You should never
find it necessary to open the system folder. Addition of
programs, fonts, utilities etc. is illegal. Copying programs
etc. for your personal use is illegal.
- Color printing is
available. You must never print from the Epson color
printer except under authorization of your instructor and with
the presence of the lab monitor.
- To use the equipment you
must have prior Macintosh experience. If you don't
know how to operate the equipment (computers, scanners,
printers) please stay off!!!

- Do not save anything to
the computer's hard drive. Save to a floppy disk or
to a Zip disk. Anything saved on the hard drive will be
"trashed."
- Please wrap-up your work 15
minutes before the lab officially closes or when asked to by
the lab monitor.
- Make sure you follow
correct procedures when you shut down your computer.
- Shut off all peripherals,
printer, scanner after you have used them.
- You must confine your
work to designated lab hours.
- You must sign in
each time you use the lab.
- If you have mechanical
problems, please contact your instructor immediately.
- Exceptions. As
with all regulations there may be exceptions. These exceptions
will be at the discretion of your instructor during your
scheduled class time and by permission of Prof.
Groth or Dr. Steele.
Anyone
not complying with these regulations will be denied
access to the computer lab!
