Biography:

Dr. Hui-Ya (Gail) Han, a Visiting Assistant Professor of Psychology, has a Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology from the University of Southern Mississippi.

At USM she led studies on the impact of nap deprivation on children, sleepiness in college students during lectures, and other sleep-related topics. Her work has been published in Consciousness and Cognition, and she has made numerous conference presentations on various aspects of sleep.

Han taught Psychology at Marian University in Wisconsin before coming to UWF in 2016.

She has a B.A. in Mass Communication from Shih Hsin University and a M.S. in Experimental Psychology from National Taiwan University; both schools are in Taipei, Taiwan.

Han was a research trainee at Taipei’s National Chengchi University, where she focused on sleep onset behavior and won an award for Best Oral Presentation.

She is fluent in English, Chinese-Mandarin and Taiwanese and has basic understanding of Japanese.
