Dr. Robert Perkins, an Assistant Professor of Management, has both academic and industry experience.
His current research investigates the growth of start-up firms, behavioral perspectives on fraud, leadership at different organizational stages, consumer trust and cyber-security. Perkins, a former Army officer, has published work on leading ethical cultures using lessons from the Marines, corporate governance, virtual mentors, effective meeting leadership and executive coaching. His research has been published in Paradigms of Corporate Governance, Change Management, Journal of Business Ethics Education, and Case Research Journal, and Consulting Psychology Journal: Practice and Research.
He founded Corporate Psychology, a behavioral science consulting firm, to help leaders understand and improve their organizations. Perkins worked with start-ups, non-profits and Fortune 500 clients. His international assignments included the United Kingdom, Czech Republic, Saudi Arabia, and other countries.
Perkins has M.A. and B.A. degrees in psychology from The Ohio State University and Kent State University, respectively. He earned his PhD. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from Colorado State University, and was recently Associate Professor in Management at Mercer University.
At Mercer, Perkins created the Entrepreneurial Festival, three events celebrating the entrepreneurial spirit, an Elevator Pitch Competition, an Entrepreneurial Forum featuring interactions with inspiring entrepreneurs and the Business Model Competition allowing students to present their start-ups to investor/judges.
