Biography:

Mrs. Dove’s expertise includes her thirty years of hospitality experience which focused on hotel management, accounting, marketing, budgeting, human resources and providing outstanding guest services. Her interests include designing and teaching “student focused” experiential learning courses based on Quality Matters (QM) guidelines. Her passion for travel includes her interests in visiting UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Marcia Dove formerly taught hospitality and tourism courses for Schiller International University, Largo, Florida where she earned her MBA in International Hotel and Tourism Management in 2004.  During her tenure, she authored a study guide for the online course HM341 Global Tourism. Dove’s BS Degree in Vocational Education – Hotel and Restaurant Management from Fitchburg State College, Fitchburg, MA fanned the flames for her love of teaching experiential learning courses. She attended Holiday Inn University, Memphis, TN, where she received certification as a Hotel General Manager in 1988.

Dove is a Quality Matters Peer Reviewer and has participated in numerous QM Internal Reviews of UWF online courses. Quality Matters External reviews include: Management of Human Resources BUS 231QM -  Cecil College, North East, MD and Introduction to Hotel and Restaurant Management 10109101 – Madison Area Technical College, Madison, WI. One of her own courses, Conventions Facilities and Meetings Management HFT 4753 received External QM Certification in 2014.

Mrs. Dove’s industry experience includes five years as the General Manager for the Holiday Inn Bethlehem, Hotel and Conference Center, Bethlehem, PA.  During her tenure, the hotel received numerous awards; Quality Valley USA Award, one of Holiday Inn’s eight world-wide Customer Service Awards, four Holiday Inn Quality Excellence awards and two Chamber of Commerce Excellence in Business awards.  She conducted a workshop on “Employee Motivation” for the Bethlehem, PA Chamber of Commerce in 1993 and was invited to present, “Building a Quality Workplace,” at the Holiday Inn’s Owners Conference in 1994.

Other notable experience includes: Accountant/Controller, Little Cayman Beach Resort, Little Cayman, BWI, Human Resources Director, The Oaks of Clearwater, Clearwater, FL, and Accountant for the Jared Coffin House, Nantucket, MA.

Mrs. Dove has kept her fingers on the pulse of hospitality and tourism innovations during her career through community involvement. She has been a member, board member and officer for numerous local Chambers of Commerce and Convention and Visitors Bureaus, a Hospitality Advisory Committee member for; Cape Cod Regional Technical School, Harwich, MA, Upper Cape Cod Regional Technical, School, Bourne, Ma and Northampton Community College, Bethlehem, PA and a former Rotarian.  She is currently an active member and Ambassador of the Navarre Chamber of Commerce, Co-Chair of the Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce Tourism Committee, member of the Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association and a member of the Navarre Senior Center.

Dove has been enmeshed in tourism throughout her career -- visited 45 states and ports of call in Spain, Italy, Hawaii, Mexico, Canada, Turkey, France, England, Scotland, Ireland, Germany, Austria, Netherlands, Norway, Greece, Tahiti, the Samoas, Bora Bora, and multiple Caribbean islands.
