Dr. Lisa Marie Assante

Dr. Lisa Marie Assante is an Associate Professor of UWF’s Department of Global Hospitality & Tourism Management.
Assante’s research covers a wide swath of the hospitality industry, where she worked before earning a Ph.D. in Hospitality Administration from Texas Tech University.
She has researched ways to improve training of workers in the industry, to better understand customers’ expectations and their decision-making processes, and to understand relationships between local residents and tourists. Her case studies have ranged from Hawaii to Austria to Vietnam. Her research has probed issues in quality food production, services marketing, beverage management, tourism safety and medical tourism, to name a few.
Assante’s work has appeared in such refereed publications as Journal of Management and Marketing Research and Tourism and Planning Development.
She is active both on campus and in the Pensacola area, where she works with organizations that promote tourism and the hospitality industry, a key part of the local economy.
Assante won a College of Business E.W. Hopkins Faculty Development Award in 2016.
Before attending graduate school, she worked for as a District Manager with Sodexho Management Services, where she operated a business generating $6.5 million of annual revenue, and ARA Services. These positions gave her valuable firsthand experience with many aspects of the hospitality industry. Assante also was Manager of Training and Development at The Venetian Resort & Casino in Las Vegas.
Her areas of expertise include Strategic Management, Leadership/Human Resource Management, Services Marketing, Food and Beverage Management, Sanitation and Safety, and Hospitality Math.
