Laura Subel has been a Government Contracting Specialist for the Florida SBDC Network since 1990. She provides no-cost consulting services to Florida businesses (small, other than small, profit or non-profit) located in Northwest Florida from Pensacola to Perry, Fl. interested in competing for contracts with the Department of Defense, other federal, state and local government agencies and participating prime contractors. She conducts a variety of workshops in the community at little to no-cost on topics such as Bid and Proposal Preparation, Marketing to Federal and State Agencies, Contract Administration, How to Register on SAM/DSBS and Certifications. In addition, she provides technical assistance to companies regarding pre-award surveys, quality assurance certifications, and 8(a), SCDV, HUBZONE, Woman Owned, and MBE Certifications and SCDV verifications.

Prior to becoming a Government Contracting Specialist for the Florida SBDC, Subel was Deputy for Small Business and Civilian Head of Contracting for the Fleet and Industrial Supply Center in Pensacola, Florida. In her capacity, she had unlimited contracting authority for goods and services to support naval activities in Florida, Mississippi, Alabama, and Louisiana. As Deputy for Small Business, she counseled small businesses, woman-owned businesses and small disadvantaged businesses on how to market and conduct business with the Navy. She was an Adjunct Professor for Pensacola State College teaching procurement courses for contract specialists, which were accepted by the Navy, Air Force, and Army Agencies as meeting mandatory training as well as for college credit.
