Mission

The College of Education and Professional Studies Office of Assessment and Strategic Planning (OASP) provides support for collecting, maintaining, analyzing, and reporting data to internal and external stakeholders in order to support planning, policy formation, decision making, and the effectiveness and efficiency of operations. With a focus on the continuous improvement of student learning, the OASP promotes the development and use of appropriate assessment methods and measures by administrative and academic units. The OASP works to empower the people it serves with knowledge and opportunity, facilitating their efforts to achieve excellence.

Our assessment work is guided by a utilizationā€focused approach to program evaluation (Patton, 2008); that is, we measure the effectiveness of our own work in terms of the extent to which that work yields results that are empirically sound AND useful to stakeholders. Our strategic planning work is guided by a Stakeholderā€driven Strategic Planning model (Ewy, 2009) that seeks to simultaneously plan effectively and build stakeholder capacity for participation in planning processes.

Goals
