Phillip Brulotte, Instructor and Technical Director, teaches Drafting for Stage, Scenic Technology and Technical Theater.

As technical director for the University and Pensacola Opera, Brulotte thrives on the creative collaborations that enable him to achieve ambitious set designs for opera and drama.

At UWF since 2011, Brulotte uses his professional experience to guide students as they learn the creative process that is needed to succeed in the world of theater. His students work together to execute and create every visual aspect of a performance.

Since 2012, he has been the technical director of the Pensacola Opera, working on four to five set two productions each year. Some of his recent projects, include “La Bohème,” “The Pirates of Penzance,” and “La Cenerentola.” In addition, he is the former technical director at the annual Arkansas Shakespeare Theatre Festival, in Conway, Arkansas. Before coming to UWF, he was a Visiting Technical Director at Washington and Lee University, In Lexington, Virginia.

Degrees & Institutions:

He received his Bachelor of Fine Art’s degree in theater design and technology from Kent State University in Ohio and a Master’s of Fine Arts in theater technical direction from the University of Missouri Kansas City.
