Sabrina McLaughlin

Sabrina McLaughlin, visiting lecturer, teaches advertising and public relations.

McLaughlin draws on her experience of running a successful integrated marketing agency and overseeing UWF’s marketing and creative services to teach students the value of integrated communications.

In her advertising capstone class, students are prepared for the challenging demands of working at an advertising agency by developing integrated communication campaigns that will be presented at the American Advertising Federation (AAF) National Student Advertising Competition. McLaughlin, who competed as an undergraduate at the University of Alabama and is now the team faculty advisor, knows that the contest provides students with a learning experience that goes beyond a textbook or class. Because of her commitment to enhancing student learning, she was named a Quality Enhancement Plan Fellow, managing one of only two pilot projects at the University to further high-impact practices on campus.

Before she began teaching full-time at UWF in 2014, McLaughlin was the marketing director of UWF’s Marketing and Creative Services department. She was also owner and creative director of Insight Marketing Communications, Inc., an integrated marketing communications agency.

Over the course of her career, she has earned numerous local, regional and national awards from the AAF, the Southern Public Relations Federation, the Florida Public Relations Association, the Council for Advancement and Support of Education and Graphic Design USA magazine. She also received a Telly, which honors excellence in television commercials.

Degrees & Institutions:

McLaughlin received a bachelor’s degree in public relations and American studies from the University of Alabama, and a master’s degree in public administration from UWF. She is also an accredited public relations practitioner.
