The Public Relations specialization prepares students for communication careers in corporate and organizational settings including health, education, entertainment, sports, and travel.


Specialization Description 

Public relations is best described as the management of relationships between an organization and its publics. Students taking public relations courses acquire the skills and knowledge to compete for a wide variety of jobs in such fields as media relations, corporate communications, event planning, public affairs, fundraising, internal communications, and nonprofit advocacy. Oral and written communication skills are crucial to a successful public relations career, and these skills are reinforced throughout the curriculum.
