Dr. Jane S. Halonen, Dean of CAS, was drawn to UWF because of its congenial atmosphere and traditions that emphasized creativity, integrity, and stewardship. A clinical psychologist by training, Jane’s areas of scholarship include assessment, critical thinking, and faculty development. Her textbook, Your Guide to College Success, is used in UWF’s Academic Foundations Seminar. She teaches Introductory Psychology in the Honors Program and is completing her final year as the Chief Reader for the Psychology Advanced Placement Reading. She also co-directs the international Improving University Teaching conference. A Fellow of the American Psychological Association, Jane received its national Distinguished Teaching Award in 2000.

George Ellenberg, Associate Dean, joined the CAS Dean's office in 2000 as Administrative Fellow and was named Associate Dean of the College in 2003. He provides oversight of graduate programs and general operations in CAS, including curriculum, student concerns, and on-line course development. A member of the history faculty, George teaches courses in southern history and American military history. He has received numerous awards for excellence in teaching. His areas of research include southern agriculture and culture, especially draft animal use, mechanization, and agrarian thought. Since 2001, George has also served as a Fleet Professor of Strategy and Policy for the Naval War College at Naval Air Station Pensacola, and he is an alumnus of the Summer Institute in Military History at West Point.
Greg Lanier, Associate Dean, manages the Honors Program and Interdisciplinary Programs. A Shakespeare scholar whose disciplinary home is in the English Department, Greg offers an introductory course in the Honors Program that its students affectionately refer to as “Boot Camp." Greg was elected President of the Southern Regional Honors Council and recently served as host for the annual conference held in Orlando. A recipient of multiple teaching awards, Greg has taken on the challenge of overseeing and improving the quality of CAS interdisciplinary offerings. glanier@uwf.edu
Tom Westcott, Assistant Dean, directs the University Advising Center housed in CAS. Tom also provides oversight related to assessment for Academic Foundations experiences, which represents academic and co-curricular experience in the first two years. Tom teaches the Academic Foundation Seminar and Introductory Psychology. He serves on a variety of college and university committees and is primarily responsible for overseeing the resolution of academic integrity matters. twestcot@uwf.edu
Fernaudra Ferguson, Assistant to the Dean, directs the variety of programs that constitute Student Success, including Trio, Brother-to-Brother, CROP, and others. Fernaundra's responsibilities include student contact, grant capture, and community relations. fferguson@uwf.edu
Venkat Sharma, Administrative Fellow, will be serving on the UWF Pandemic Committee to help the campus prepare for health-care related emergencies, supporting a CAS initiative to improve recruitment and retention of under-represented groups in the sciences, facilitating space concerns in the sciences, including the next phase of building the School of Science and Engineering Building and oversight of curriculum review processes. He was recently recognized with the President's Diversity Award and for his fund-raising activities related to tsunami relief and has also been recognized with several Research, Teaching and Advising Awards. vsharma@uwf.edu
Karen Goldschmidt, Director of Technology, provides expertise to assist the college in all matters technological, including oversight of the CAS website, tech support for faculty and students, and consultation regarding technological purchases. Karen serves on the Academic Technology Advisory Council and sits on the Governing Channel Administrator Board. Charlie Mae Steen is completing her 5th year as the Administrative Assistant to the CAS Dean. She has served with distinction at UWF for 30 years. Charlie Mae oversees staff support throughout the Dean’s Office and monitors and supports staff operations in all departments that comprise CAS. She manages the Dean’s calendar, files, and other administrative details that make college operations efficient and effective. Charlie Mae has been recognized for her service with the 2001 Employee of the Year and the (APEX) Academic Professional Excellence award 1998. csteen@uwf.edu
Belinda Day has served as the CAS Business Manager since 2000 and has over twenty years of experience with UWF. Belinda has oversight responsibilities for all financial resources of the College, including the interpretation and implementation of university and divisional fiscal policies. She works with the Dean to coordinate available resources to achieve College goals and objectives. In addition, Belinda provides assistance and guidance to CAS Chairs and staff in managing budget issues within their respective departments. bday1@uwf.edu
Judy Jones has worked 5 years for UWF and is currently a Program Specialist in the CAS Dean's Office working directly with Dr. George Ellenberg, Associate Dean and Dr. Venkat Sharma, Administrative Fellow. She also oversees various college processes and assists in planning administrative events for the Dean. Judy coordinates Federal Work Study for CAS Departments and FACS (Faculty Academic Credential System). She has earned a Certificate in Administrative Services from UWF, is CAS Channel Administrator/Trainer for ARGUS and supports CAS Council Committees, among other duties. jjones@uwf.edu
Jenny Feysa, Office Specialist, was hired in the Dean's Office in July 2006. She worked here previously but had moved out of the area for some time. Jenny will be assisting Judy Jones and Charlie Mae Steen in their CAS functions and responsibilities. She will also be assisting Karen Goldschmidt with the CAS website.
