Psychology Graduate Program Application Process
The University of West Florida Department of Psychology encourages applications for graduate admission from qualified students regardless of gender, culture, religion, ethnic background, age, marital status, or disability. The department encourages and supports graduate application and graduate work by members of minorities and other underrepresented groups. Non-U.S. citizens should review the International Students graduate admission requirements.
To apply to the Master of Arts Psychology program, please complete the following steps:
Deadline of Submission
Our deadline for receipt of completed applications (all materials) is February 1st for admission during the following Summer or Fall semesters. This deadline supersedes all others posted by the university.
Application and Materials
All application and materials should be sent to the appropriate university area as described below:
UWF Graduate School:
- University Application (completed online)
- GRE scores from General (Math and Verbal) Exam taken within the last 5 years
- One original transcript for all undergraduate work
- Submit your Letter of Intent. This is typically a one to three page letter which indicates your reasons and goals for pursuing a master's degree at the University of West Florida.
- Three Letters of Recommendation (with at least one from a college instructor)
Also required is a nonrefundable $30 processing fee payable to the University of West Florida, which should be submitted six to nine months prior to the semester for which admission is requested. It is the policy of the University not to defer or waive the application processing fee. The application processing fee must be in U.S. currency, drawn on a U.S. bank. There is an option to pay via MasterCard, Visa, or American Express credit card when the web application is submitted. The Graduate School will not process any application materials until notification has been received from the Cashier's office of receipt of payment.
For counseling program applicants an interview is required. Applicants who meet initial selection criteria will be invited for an interview. Interviews will be held in the Department of Psychology Building (Building 41) on the UWF campus in Pensacola. This provides an opportunity for us to meet applicants while also giving applicants a better perspective on the faculty, facilities, and local resources. If geographic distance is an obstacle we can arrange for a phone interview, but you are strongly encouraged to attend. Please let our Recruitment/Retention Graduate Counselors know which date you prefer in preparation for an interview. Please keep in mind we will contact you in early February to notify you if you have been selected for an interview, and to confirm your date selection.
